Watching Easy to Forget Little Items Along the Way

Key Elements of State Coalitions

Develop a mechanism for orienting and updating new members on the history and past successes and challenges of the coalition; making sure there is always room for new ideas within your coalition; regularly reviewing coalition resources and productivity to ensure you are keeping pace with objectives, ideas and commitments; recognizing that levels of support and involvement of Steering committee/Board members will vary and that coalition work is usually an "extra" on top of members' jobs; publicly recognizing and thanking coalition members and supporters; celebrating coalition accomplishments.

Coalition Example - "For the longer range, the Coalition has given consideration to the operation and logistics of the Coalition. These topics include building common knowledge, support, commitment, and relationships among the organizations represented, and coordinating with other existing groups with similar goals and interests." Adam Suomala, Minnesota Culture Change Coalition
